This position is responsible for providing eligible participants with the services they need to obtain and maintain suitable employment. They conduct labor market research that often requires consideration of diverse state, regional and local employment laws and regulations. These individuals identify barriers to employment for participants who are ready to work, address barriers to job readiness training, recommend solutions for areas in need of improvement and coordinate the implementation of State Employment Coordination policies.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Work in conjunction with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to assist Participants who express interest in being employed
Develops and coordinates job readiness and placement activities
Develops and maintains employer partnerships to assist in the successful placement of Veterans
Conducts marketing and outreach activities
Assist individuals with disabilities in obtaining employment (e.g., resume development, interview skills and job search strategies) Partner with available agencies who provide these services
Develop workforce innovations and initiatives that improve the recruitment, retention and skills of direct care workers
Collect and publish aggregate data on Participant employment outcomes for all participants who work. .
Research possible barriers or risks to an individual’s rehabilitation and implement plan of service to address barriers
Research labor market trends
Research federal and state rehabilitation laws, rules, regulations and guidelines related to employment
Access appropriate resources to assist an individual with rehabilitation goals
Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience.Experience in identifying possible barriers and risks to an individual’s rehabilitation (e.g., financial, learning disabilities and transportation issues).
Expertise in using Labor market information and identifying occupational trends (e.g., national, local and hidden job market).
3-5 years performing tasks described in job content description.
Expertise in working with support services and resources within the community (e.g., Veteran Service Organizations, colleges or universities and mental health services)
Occupational Tools (e.g., Occupational information Network (O*NET), Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) and Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH))
Job development and placement strategies
Strong familiarity with Federal and state rehabilitation laws, rules, regulations and guidelines, as well as SPA networks and systems (e.g., Benefits Delivery Networks, compensation and Pension networks, etc.)
